“another blog is hosted at this address” solution

in my case, i experienced this when i enabled my domain for google apps and decided to deactivate it so i could use my domain for other stuff. i have a subscription with dreamhost and with a few clicks, i could switch easily from full hosting with google apps to just DNS hosting.

since i’d like to use my domain with blogspot, i thought switching to DNS hosting would be such a breeze but hell no. i got an error and thankfully, i found a resolution :)

after you’ve set your proper CNAME and A values and you’re getting this “another blog is hosted at this address” problem, then follow the steps below:

1. log in to: http://www.google.com/a/cpanel/yourdomainname.com
2. go to DOMAIN SETTINGS then ACCOUNT INFORMATION
3. click DELETE GOOGLE APPS FOR BLAH BLAH BLAH…
4. you may be prompted to delete your created user accounts (except the admin user of course) first if you have created any. then go back to step 2, confirm it and you’re done.
5. go back to blog at blogger’s PUBLISHING tab, customize your domain and you shouldn’t get an error anymore.

all set! hope this helped ;)
